ChIP-IT™ Control Kits

take control of your chromatin immunoprecipitation

A useful feature of the original ChIP-IT™ Kits are the positive and negative controls for human chromatin, which aid in troubleshooting, interpreting results and validating your antibodies for use in chromatin immunoprecipitation. However, as many customers requested controls for other species, we developed stand-alone ChIP-IT Control Kits for human, mouse and rat samples. By not including controls in the ChIP-IT Express Kits, and by releasing ChIP-IT w/o controls, we enable you to select the appropriate control kit for your sample type, whichever ChIP-IT chromatin IP Kit you choose.

Why controls are important

ChIP is an enrichment of DNA bound by a particular protein, not a complete purification of the protein-bound DNA. As a result, ChIPs are unavoidably contaminated with non-specifically captured chromatin. During PCR analysis, this contaminating DNA can lead to false positive PCR products, making data interpretation difficult.

To help, Active Motif offers a variety of control options to help eliminate false positives. Having antibodies and primer sets that have been validated for use in ChIP make it much easier for you to interpret and troubleshoot experiments performed with non-validated antibodies.

ChIP-IT Control Kits provide positive & negative control antibodies and species-specific PCR primers, PCR buffer and a convenient DNA loading dye that makes your PCR reactions ready for loading on an agarose gel straight from the thermocycler.

Contents & Storage

Five ChIP reactions each of Positive Control antibody, Negative Control IgG, species-specific positive control PCR primers, 10X PCR Buffer and 10X PCR loading dye. Reagent storage conditions vary from 4°C to -20°C. All reagents are guaranteed stable for 6 months when stored properly.
