for C/EBPa antibody (pAb)Background
C/EBPα (or C/EBP alpha) is a member of the CCAAT-enhancer-binding protein family of transcription factors. C/EBPs can bind DNA and recruit coactivators to promote gene expression. C/EBPs contains a basic-leucine zipper (bZIP) domain and can bind as homodimers to promoters. C/EBPα can also heterodimerize with C/EBPβ and C/EBPγ.
for C/EBPa antibody (pAb)Immunogen
This C/EBPa antibody was raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues 1-14 of human C/EBP alpha.
for C/EBPa antibody (pAb)Application Notes
This C/EBPa antibody has been validated for use in chromatin IP (5 µl per ChIP), Western blotting (1:1,000 dilution) and electrophoretic mobility shift assays (EMSA), and it has been reported to work in immunofluorescence. We recommend adding 2 - 4 µl of antibody to the reaction mixture when performing supershift experiments, and also recommend the use of Tris-glycine electrophoresis buffer. For optimal results in Western blot experiments, primary antibody incubations should be performed at room temperature. The addition of 0.1% Tween 20 to all Blotto solutions may also reduce background. Individual optimization may be required.
for C/EBPa antibody (pAb)Buffer
PBS containing 0.2% gelatin, 0.01% thimersol and 0.1% sodium azide. Thimersol and sodium azide are highly toxic.
for C/EBPa antibody (pAb)Positive Control
Active Motif's Rat Liver nuclear extract (Catalog No. 36024) can be used as a positive control for C/EBPα antibody.

Compatible Secondary Antibodies
Active Motif has developed a variety of high-quality secondary antibodies for most applications, with anti-rabbit and anti-mouse conjugates to a broad line of high-quality fluorescent molecules, as well as horse radish peroxidase (HRP). Visit our Secondary Antibody Conjugates page to find the perfect secondaries for immunofluorescence experiments with C/EBPα antibody (pAb).
C/EBPα antibody tested by Western blot.
Detection of C/EBPα by Western blot analysis. Positive detection of C/EBPα in nuclear extracts derived from Rat Liver tissue at 1:1,000 (lane 1) dilution. Lane 2 illustrates peptide competition.
for C/EBPa antibody (pAb)Storage
Antibodies in solution can be stored at -80°C for 2 years. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles and keep on ice when not in storage.
