Application Notes

This product has been discontinued
Applications Validated by Active Motif:

ICC/IF: 1:2,000 dilution
WB*: 1:500 - 1:2,000 dilution

*Note: many chromatin-bound proteins are not soluble in a low salt nuclear extract and fractionate to the pellet. Therefore, we recommend a High Salt / Sonication Protocol when preparing nuclear extracts for Western Blot.

Published Applications

The following applications have been published using this antibody. Unless noted above, Active Motif may not have validated the antibody for use in these applications:

Background

SMARCA5 is a human homolog of the budding yeast Snf2 protein. SMARCA5 is the catalytic subunit of several chromatin remodeling complexes, such as CHRAC, RSF, ACF, NuRD and NoRC. SMARCA5 is a member of the SWI/SNF superfamily of proteins and members of this family have helicase and ATPase activities and are thought to regulate transcription of certain genes by altering the chromatin structure around those genes. SMARCA5 is a component of the chromatin remodeling and spacing factor RSF (Rsf1), a facilitator of the transcription of class II genes by RNA pol II. It is similar in sequence to the Drosophila ISWI chromatin remodeling protein. The protein encoded by this gene is a component of the chromatin remodeling and spacing factor RSF, a facilitator of the transcription of class II genes by RNA polymerase II. The encoded protein is similar in sequence to the Drosophila ISWI chromatin remodeling protein.

Positive Control

Active Motif's HeLa acid extract (Catalog No. 36200) can be used as a positive control for SMARCA5 antibody.
