HIRA is required for the periodic repression of histone gene transcription during the cell cycle and when complexed with ASF1α is involved in the formation of the senescence-associated heterochromatin foci.

The immunoprecipitated protein was detected by Western blotting using HIRA mAb (Clone WC119.2H11) at a dilution of 5 µg/ ml.
