For an antibody against CID that works in immunofluorescence, use Catalog No. 39719.
Immunogen
This CID antibody was raised against recombinant CID protein from Drosophila melanogaster.
Buffer
Rabbit serum containing 30% glycerol and 0.035% sodium azide. Sodium azide is highly toxic.
Background
CID (Centromer Identifier) is the Drosophila histone H3 variant which replaces canonical H3 in centromeric chromatin at the inner plate of the kinetochore (similar to mammalian CENP-A). CID is required for recruitment and assembly of kinetochore proteins, mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. It may serve as an epigenetic mark that propagates centromere identity through DNA replication and cell division.
