for HP1 gamma antibody (mAb) (Clone 2MOD-1G6)Background

Heterochromatin Protein 1 gamma (HP1 gamma) is one of the mammalian homologues of Drosophila HP1, first identified through its role in the maintenance of regions of the genome in a heterochromatic state. HP1 gamma contains a chromo domain and a chromo shadow domain. Through the chromo domain, HP1 proteins are recruited to regions of chromatin that exhibit methylation of lysine 9 of histone H3.

This HP1γ antibody was raised against recombinant full-length mouse HP1γ.

for HP1 gamma antibody (mAb) (Clone 2MOD-1G6)Application Notes

This HP1 gamma antibody has been validated for use in ELISA, immunocytochemistry (0.5 - 2 µg/ml), immunofluorescence (0.5 - 2 µg/ml), immunohistochemistry (0.5 - 2 µg/ml), immunoprecipitation (2 - 10 µg per IP) and Western blotting (0.5 - 2 µg/ml). See references for details.

Purified IgG in 70 mM Tris (pH 8), 105 mM NaCl, 32 mM glycine, 0.07 mM EDTA, 30% glycerol, and 0.035% sodium azide.

Bridging Antibody to Improve ChIP, MeDIP and IP

Some isotypes of mouse IgG antibodies do not bind well to protein G-conjugated agarose/magnetic beads, which are commonly used in ChIP, MeDIP and IP experiments. Capture efficiency can be improved by including an anti-mouse IgG bridging antibody because it binds with a strong affinity to both the protein G beads and the mouse IgG antibody. By increasing the affinity of the mouse primary antibody for the protein G bead, the Bridging Antibody for Mouse IgG can help improve the results of all ChIP, MeDIP and IP experiments that use HP1γ antibody (mAb).

Compatible Secondary Antibodies

Active Motif has developed a variety of high-quality secondary antibodies for most applications, with anti-rabbit and anti-mouse conjugates to a broad line of high-quality fluorescent molecules, as well as horse radish peroxidase (HRP). Visit our Secondary Antibody Conjugates page to find the perfect secondaries for immunofluorescence experiments with HP1γ antibody (mAb).
