PC-3 nuclear extract was prepared from cell cultures of the human prostate adenocarcinoma PC-3 cell line. The PC-3 cell line was derived from an advanced androgen-independent bone metastasis of a 64 year old Caucasian male patient with Grade IV prostatic cancer. PC-3 cells are considered the 'classical' prostate tumor cell line and are characterized by a high metastatic potential, the expression of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), and low acid phosphatase and testosterone-5-α reductase activity. PC-3 cells are most commonly used in research as a model of prostate cancer progression.
PC-3 nuclear extract is specifically recommended for studies related to prostate cancer.

PC-3 nuclear extract is supplied in Dilution Buffer (20 mM Hepes (pH 7.9), 100 mM KCl, 1 mM MgCl2, 20% glycerol, 0.5 mM PMSF and 0.5 mM DTT).
Extracts have been quality control tested by Western blot and the Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA).
To ensure stability, extracts should be stored at -80°C.
We recommend aliquoting the extracts into single-use fractions and then storing them at -80°C. This eliminates repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
