Applications

Application Notes
Applications Validated by Active Motif:
WB: 1:500 - 1:2,000 dilution
Immunogen
This GATA-4 antibody was raised against a peptide derived from the C-terminus of human GATA-4.
Buffer
Purified IgG in 70 mM Tris (pH 8), 105 mM NaCl, 31 mM glycine, 0.07 mM EDTA, 30% glycerol and 0.035% sodium azide. Sodium azide is highly toxic.
GATA-4 antibody (pAb) tested by Western blot.
Western Blot: Nuclear extract (20 µg) of F9 cells (retinoic acid treated mouse teratocarcinoma F9 stem cell line, Active Motif Catalog no. 36113) probed with GATA-4 antibody at a dilution of 1:2,000.
Background
GATA-4 is a zinc finger protein and part of the GATA family of sequence specific DNA binding transcription factors that recognize a consensus DNA sequence containing GATA. GATA-4 is involved in the development of several mesodermal and endodermal structures. GATA-4 mutant mice exhibit severe heart malformations. Defects in GATA-4 are the cause of atrial septal defect type 2. ASD2 is a congenital heart malformation characterized by incomplete closure of the wall between the atria resulting in blood flow from the left to the right atria. GATA-4 also plays a role in regulating gene expression in cardiac and smooth muscle cell types.
Positive Control
Active Motif's F9 nuclear extract (Retinoic acid treated) (Catalog No. 36113) can be used as a positive control for GATA-4 antibody.
