SMARCAL1 / HARP (SWI/SNF-related matrix-associated actin-dependent regulator of chromatin subfamily A-like protein 1, HepA-related protein, DNA-dependent ATPase A) is a member of the SWI / SNF family of ATPases and chromatin remodeling proteins. Unlike other SWI / SNF family members, SMARCAL1 / HARP has not been shown to remodel chromatin, but possesses an ATP-dependent annealing helicase activity. SMARCAL1 reanneals single-stranded DNA bubbles in DNA at DNA replication forks that are bound by Replication Protein A (RPA). Defects in SMARCAL1 / HARP are a cause of Schimke immuno-osseous dysplasia (SIOD) SIOD causes spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia (a disorder of bone growth that results in short stature, skeletal abnormalities, and problems with vision and hearing), renal dysfunction and T-cell immunodeficiency.

Bridging Antibody to Improve ChIP, MeDIP and IP

Some isotypes of mouse IgG antibodies do not bind well to protein G-conjugated agarose/magnetic beads, which are commonly used in ChIP, MeDIP and IP experiments. Capture efficiency can be improved by including an anti-mouse IgG bridging antibody because it binds with a strong affinity to both the protein G beads and the mouse IgG antibody. By increasing the affinity of the mouse primary antibody for the protein G bead, the Bridging Antibody for Mouse IgG can help improve the results of all ChIP, MeDIP and IP experiments that use SMARCAL1 / HARP antibody (mAb).
